Cub Scouts enjoy their 1st Cub Scout Adventure Camp

On July 10-13th , Pack 472 participated in our 1st Cub Scout Adventure Camp. We had six brave Cub Scouts (Auston, Tre', Michael, Jason, Jacob and James), one Parent (Mr. Grant) and three Leaders (Mrs.Matthews-Walker, Mr.Davis and Mr.Maxey) brave temperatures ranging into the 100's to enjoy three days of Scouting Fun.

The boys had the opportunity to enjoy Camp absolutely "free" thanks to the Scout reach program.

They enjoyed learning Archery and BB Gun shooting, participated in a nature hike, made and successful launched bottle rockets, viewed the moon and star via telescope, cooked baked apples and even had time to play a little dodge ball.

Several of our boys have created a serious lead in the Cubmaster Summer Challenge by earning belt loops for Swimming, Archery, BB gun shooting, Astronomy,Bicycling and have completed most of the requirements for the Cub Scout Outdoor Award.

We also have two Webelos that will be returning to Webelos Extreme on July 23-27.
But, If you missed out on camp this year we will be going back in 2012!!!!!

From the Desk of Rev Gale Jones

Greetings Everyone!  We want to say “THANK YOU” to all who were able to participate during our first LIONS OF ZION (LOZ) Leadership Retreat on this past Saturday.  It was truly a time to get “REFRESHED, FOCUSED and READY!”   We want to extend a special “thank you” to Dr. Jamille Wilson who was very instrumental in sending out the Evites, SPBC Staff and all of the program participants.

For those who were not able to join us, please know that you were missed.  A copy of the booklet and a magnet are available for you.  We encourage you to join us as we continue to pray together that God will give us all the faith we need to say yes to a new vision, as well as, give us the courage to face the unknown adventure that lies ahead.  We are a Church with multi-sites that includes LOZ (i.e., the children’s ministry with multi-children groups).

Please mark your calendar for Wednesday, August 27, 2011 at 6 p.m. in Room 2235.  Special and upcoming events for the remainder of the year will be discussed at that time. Everyone’s presence is strongly encouraged.

Rev. Gale M. Jones
